For this week in the Csulb art museum, I had the pleasure to meet Yireh Kwak, one of the most interesting artists I’ve seen thus far. We found out that she likes to create her paintings based off of where she once lived in, a hill and uses the beautiful view of nature around her to help paint. Most of her paintings are oil paintings and they often consist of hills and mountaintops with trees, houses, and a lot of water. She stated that she has been doing this for the past 6 years and counting.
She paints whatever she observes in front of her after creating the sketches. Later she would copy the sketches from the paper on big canvases like the one I have here. She also mentioned that this was her favorite piece of work. In addition to nature, Yireh also loves to display rural areas as well. Her advice for creating art is to be very strong and passionate.
